I saw a clip Eddie playing at the press conference for his new line of Fender products, and he is still better than any other guitar player alive today (other than God a/k/a Eric Clapton, maybe). I'm just hoping Wolfgang breathes some new life into the band, and they come out with some cool new music.

TB, man, you're right. Michael Anthony was the man. Who else could have done the cheesiest background vocals of all time?

Re: Van Halen Is Back!

How dare you poo-poo the legacy of the bass machine that was Michael Anthony! No one could rock one string, hell, one NOTE as long or as hard as MA. Van halen is doomed without him. What, is Wolfgang going to do a Jack Daniel's bass solo? He's underage! Is he going to have a Pepsi bass made? If he does, he sucks worse than Van Hagar did. (not quite as bad as Van Halen Sucks to the Extreme: the Gary Charone year)

Mr. Anthony is in the pantheon of way awesome bassists from pop/rock bands.

Adam Clayton, U2
Kip Winger, Winger (durr)
that guy from Devo
Lisa Turtle, The Saved By the Bell Band

So please, Mr. Probst, give Mr. Anthony his due. And then remember to soak your head in vodka. :)

TB

Re: Van Halen Is Back!

Timmy are you serious??????????

Do you really expect these guys to get out of there wheel chairs 20 years after their prime, put on bandannas to cover their bald spots and rock the world as you put it?? That' kinda like you coming out of retirement to be the high hurdle stud you claimed you were back in high school. Don't get me wrong here I'd love to see them tour but I guess I look at it from a nostalgic angle that lets me remember back to our teenage years when Van Halen was relevant in the music scene. If I were a betting man I would suggest you see them A.S.A.P. because I cannot foresee this tour making it 25 dates.

On a more serious note, Tim thanks for writing about something not Apple related. That apple stuff is like a whole different language or something.

P.S. Steve Jobs is the devil!
